An Impassioned Plea For Dark Cloud 3

Thursday, August 26th, 2010 by

There’s an old saying that goes “Wish in one hand, shit in the other. See which fills up faster.” In the case of wishing for a proper Dark Cloud sequel, it’s clear that the brown hand wins out. Well, it’s high time that palm full of hopes and dreams finally got it’s due.

We’re taking it to the streets, boy. And by that, we mean we’re sitting on our ass and firing off an email straight to the heart of Level 5, the company responsible for the Dark Cloud franchise. It is our goal to redirect resources from the development of White Knight Chronicles 2 to creating that thing gamers really want, Dark Cloud freakin’ 3.

But we can’t do it alone, our voice is but one and one is the loneliest, most ineffectual number. We need your help.

We’ve found Level 5′s email form from their japanese website. All you have to do is click the link, fill in the fields, and beg beg BEG for Dark Cloud 3 like your mama’s life hangs on the line. Make something up if you must… some story about how your twin bro has developed a terminal fever, for which the only cure is more Dark Cloud.

Since the link is entirely in Japanese, here’s what each field is, line by line:

Name
Last Name
Email
Inquiry (Choose the second option down in the drop-down menu)
Plea!

Click the subsequent submit buttons and you’re good to go. We tried translating this site via BabelFish but for whatever reason, the submission won’t work if you’re coming from a translated page.

Be creative. Be persuasive. Just don’t be insulting. That means no “White Knight Chronicles is a steaming pile of maggot-ridden shit. How could you?” I know, it’s like resisting the urge to kick a fresh turd on a hot, hot day. But be strong. And yes, it’s probably unrealistic to expect Level 5 to throw WKC2 to the wolves and focus on Dark Cloud 3 instead, but at least they’ll know that the franchise is still loved. Sometimes that’s all it takes.

Together we can make this dream a reality, or go down trying. The safe money’s on “go down trying”. But if everyone gave up that easily then mullets would have died with the 80s. Fight the power.

Email Level 5 and beg for Dark Cloud 3

Sent a message explaining why I love Dark Cloud and why I’m itching for a sequel and how I love Level 5. I hope they make Dark Cloud 3 a reality.

Right on. A lot of folk seem to think that Dark Cloud 3 is inevitable, but it’s been so long since the last that I sometimes wonder. I would definitely rank Dark Cloud 2 in my top three of all time.

I’ve never played either DC game, but I submitted a plea nonetheless. Just for you, mullet.

I’m currently playing Dragon Quest 9, which was co-developed by Level 5 and Square Enix. DQ8 was solo-developed by Level 5. Their work is top-notch.

DQ8 was great but much different from Dark Cloud 2. DC2 is really in a class of its own, with Rogue Galaxy being most like it but still way off. I would definitely recommend it to you, if you ever see a copy floating around for five or ten bucks. It’s got a lot of heart and is despicably fun.

I can’t, however, recommend the first. I never played it and from what I gather, the second is vastly improved over it.

i have both and to be honest my fave hands down is DC2 the game flowed so smoothly and was never dull so definatly a wonder to behold i will say they need to work with a diffrent disc maker though simply because the discs that where used for DC2 were so easily ruined compared to other makers it is so sad i have personaly went though 3 copys of DC2 for that exact problem

    I just left a chant.

Dark Cloud 3! Dark Cloud 3! Dark Cloud 3!
Dark Cloud 3! Dark Cloud 3! Dark Cloud 3!

While you’re waiting for Dark Cloud 3, Ni No Kuni looks like it’ll be pretty fantastic.
