Finally, after six days of agony with nothing new in the App Store, Apple opens back up for business. I was just telling myself how I didn’t have enough applications to put on my iPhone that I’ve only owned for four days.
Wait, you do know the iTunes App Store doesn’t allow new applications to be released during seasonal holidays, don’t you? Give me a moment to insert a “Pompous Hipster Poser Laugh” here using one of these apps.
Let’s see: Fart Sound Effects, More Sound Effects, Shake to Fart Sound Effects, iSamJackson Sound Effects, Angry Birds, Angry Birds Sound Effects… huh… nope. I’ll have to remember to get that later. Where was I? Oh, yes.
Electronic Arts, Sega, Namco, Capcom, Gameloft, SquareEnix, and more (and many indie developers, as well) slashed prices during the seasonal shutdown. And, while some of those prices are returning (I just missed out on picking up Retina Display-supported “Mirror’s Edge” for 99 cents), there are still tons left a Lincoln shy of a Washington or otherwise discounted. EA seems to be first out of the gate in return their prices to normal.
If you’re so inclined, scan the App Store and see if you can score one last discount. Spiderman: Total Mayhem, Let’s Golf 2, and a host of other Gameloft knock-offs are still just $.99 as I type. Chaos Rings and most of Square’s line-up is half off. Maybe you can still get Chu Chu Rocket for a buck by the time you read this.
Or go look for something new, because it’s only cool when it’s new.Tweet
