Order & Chaos: Online update hits, fixes what wasn’t broke…

Friday, August 26th, 2011 by

Dear Gameloft,

I’ve given you some shit in the past for being, basically, a corporation that prides itself on regurgitating original, inspired shit into some uninspired, shameless, gooey mass that often resembles the original if its soul had been dragged through the mud and forced to watch its mother raped by a limousine full of clowns, but I actually rather enjoyed Order & Chaos. Yes, it was a World of Warcraft wannabe, but it’s not like World of Warcraft was all that original.

That said, here’s a few small things that I’ve noticed from one day with Update 2:

Loot has been scaled back considerably. Vendor trash (coarse-level equipment) has been removed from most, if not all, loot tables. It has been replaced by nothing. Thus, the economy is about to see some massive changes. This will not end camping in high traffic areas where silver drops, which I imagine is the reason for the change in the first place, but mean that the person will likely camp there longer without the need to empty their backpack. Penal Colony: Desert and Thistleville Outpost will continue to see people looking for level 55 superior rings and level 58 superior cloaks, respectively.

The auction house in Crimson Tower: Antoria is broken and will not allow for auctions to be posted. You can still use said auction house for purchases, but you cannot use it to post auctions.

Unannounced changes to some of the equipment means that the Prosecutor’s Ring of the Guardian that I paid 600 gold for a few days back, which used to have +3 resistance to all elements, now has +0 elemental resistance. Oh, but it now has some extra physical defense that I could give two shits about. For some classes, though, this may be a welcome change.

Relic’s Key is okay, but most teams will see the full party of four. Most of the time, only 3 items will appear. Someone’s going home empty-handed.

With very little information given, players were left on their own to figure out how to enable “legendary” mode. Many global messages were “Why are only level 30 mobs spawning?”

Re-spawn in place has went from 1 rune to 10 runes inside the dungeon. Can you make it any more obvious that your game is free-mium except, you know, not free?

Overall, I’m sure there are tons to like and it’s just one day in for a relatively new game still finding its feet. Thus far, though? Looks like we have ourselves a good ol’ fashion MMO nerf! Shitfire, let’s break out them pitchforks!

Here’s hoping the silver lining shows up sometime quick. My subscription’s up in three weeks, and I’d hate to move on so soon.

Heads up, Android and Facebook Order & Chaos: Online players. Get your loot while you still can and stay away from “of the Guardian” equipment unless you want a glorified “of Defense” item with a stamina boost.

Nice *hand*writing. Makes me ashamed of my own.

You know the worst part? I did that backwards so it would reflect in the mirror when I could have just flipped the picture horizontally. I didn’t think about it until I had already written it out.

That is a stiff middle finger. I can feel your rage.
