mario and luigi bowser's inside story report card review

Originality 9 Feels unique despite being yet another Mario JRPG.
Fun 10 Every enemy has a different gimmick; battles stay fresh.
Pacing 9 Great except when you get stuck on a mini-game.
Controls 10 Explained and designed well.
Style 10 Best-looking Mario sprite game yet. Good music.
Polish 10 Animations have an impressive level of detail.
Design 8 Mini-games must be played; some are annoying as hell.
Story 8 Great for a Mario game.
Mileage 9 Took ~25 hours to complete. Good length for a modern RPG.
Mood 9 Same lighthearted mood you’d expect from any Mario game.
SCORE 92 An excellent Mario RPG. The best JRPG I’ve played in years.

My nephew has this game; I thought it looked pretty neat when he showed it to me.

I played the hell out of Bowser’s Inside Story, too, but hated the giant Bowser battles and then lost interest. I really enjoyed most of the game, though, but I still feel Partners in Time is better.

I actually liked the giant Bowser battles. The only thing I really despised was the sneezing mini-game, and a few other mini-games were annoying but not awful. Other than that, this game is solid.

Too bad you never finished it. Give it another shot someday if you can stomach the horizontal-DS Bowser battles.
