Angry Birds Space! to launch on March 22nd

Space: the final frontier.

These are the voyages of the Rovio franchise. Their three year mission: to destroy strange pig forts, to seek out new life and new bird variations, to boldly go where no birds have gone before.

Rovio’s announced a March 22nd release date for the next game in their wildly popular franchise, Angry Birds Space! I don’t know if that exclamation is part of the title. I hope not. I have enough trouble yelling Paladog! Here’s the post from their blog:

We are VERY excited to announce our next game: Angry Birds Space! It’s going to be the biggest game launch since the original Angry Birds!

Angry Birds Space is a completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love — plus some surprises!

We’re going to announce more information in early March, and on March 22nd we will launch simultaneously in mobile gaming, animation, retail, and publishing. Not only is this a first for us as an integrated entertainment company, but the first time this has ever been done for a mobile game!

Check out angrybirds.com/space and the teaser trailer! We’ll be releasing more information soon, so make sure to check back regularly. You can also check Facebook, Twitter, or the Rovio blog for updates.

So mark your calendar and stay tuned!

Believe it or not, there are people out there who can’t get enough Angry Birds. Though I own all three games, I’m not one of them. I’m pretty far from completing the original, the seasonal sequel, or the Rio tie-in.

Rovio has mentioned new birds and new powers for old birds. Personally, I hope there will be some sort of gravity element involved to mix things up, much like the different planets of Solar Jetman and Meteos. Anything less will be disappointing.
