“This is Halloween” video for Just Dance 3’s milestone

Sunday, April 29th, 2012 by

Last week, I mentioned that Just Dance 3 broke the five million sales mark in North America just 28 weeks after release. Those of you who follow our Facebook page may recall I promised to post a video of myself dancing to “This is Halloween” to celebrate.

What I didn’t know when I made that promise was just how poorly I danced. That’s not entirely true. I knew it from growing up in a world without rhythm, but I thought months of playing these games had translated into some skills. You know how, when you hear your voice recorded, you think that it doesn’t sound like you? Yeah, I thought I was more graceful than this, that’s all I’m saying.

What’s important to note is that, even now that I know how ridiculous I look, I can turn off the part of my brain that feels shame and just dance as I try to copy the choreographed moves. These games are undeniably fun.

Lack of skills? Dude, take these moves to any dance club over there in South Korea, and I’m sure you’ll be getting even more attention than your local StarCraft champs.

This is awesome. Thanks for blasting through the embarrassment and putting yourself out there.

Won’t happen. I do have more rhythm, certainly, but I’m still all robotic.

I really am pissed about just four stars, though. I did two takes previously and pulled 5 stars, but one of them you couldn’t hear the song very well and the other was too shaky.

You should see my “Hey, Ya” in Just Dance 2. It’s really bad…

I’m sure that watching you “shake it like a Polaroid picture” is quite entertaining.

Seriously, though, now that it’s out, I might just do a series of piss poor dances to show people that this is how silly they likely look when dancing as well. Of course, I’ll do it only for songs I can five-star AND from a different angle.

Because, frankly, the first step is the hardest. Now? Hell, may as well have some fun with it.

I’ll save “Thriller” for Halloween, though. Perhaps in costume…

Bummer on the four stars! For what it’s worth, we thought it was a five star performance over here.

There are about five different songs that I can score five stars on across three different dancing games. I can tell you the exact point in the video where it went wrong, as well.

Seriously, though, these games aren’t really games but they are awful fun and really good exercise.
