Who’s ready for “The World Ends with You” on iOS?

Fight back the tears, Fade. Don’t lose it because it’s not what you had hoped.

Take this with a grain of salt. Siliconera reports that Square Enix’s recently-launched teaser site is for an iOS port of The World Ends with You that was accidentally mentioned in the notes for an upcoming soundtrack CD. Additionally, the tracks from the recently-released Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance would be included.

While I’ve said in the past that TWEWY could work on iOS, I’m not entirely certain how effective it would turn out. Many Player Pins had identical input that could be toggled by holding a shoulder button which, as you know, is notably absent from all iOS devices. However, never let the idea of workable controls stand between Square Enix and money, as Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, Final Fantasy III, and Chrono Trigger all had notable control issues. Best case scenario, they add multi-touch input that wasn’t possible on Nintendo DS to differentiate identical pins.

By the way, that 104 Building header image? It’s like Square-Enix wasn’t trying to hide it at all. Silly me, I always forget that countdown teaser sites are worthless.

Disappointment aside, retina-display and clearer sound would make this an instant purchase for me.
