Delta Attack has gotten our hands on a preview of the Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch. Let me start by telling anyone who loved the game that it turned out great. If you were lucky enough to play SoMoGa’s port of Vay, you’ll know that the game was in good hands. If you didn’t play Vay, go download it for free in the App Store this very second.
For people unfamiliar with the series, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete was one of the top roleplaying games on the Sony Playstation, a system known for great RPGs. While lighthearted for a majority of the game, it has the benefit of a particularly strong ending. Out of all the games I played on PSX, Lunar: SSSC sticks out as my personal favorite.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch is based upon the Sega Saturn/Sony Playstation re-make.
The game was known for its lush animated cut scenes. Thankfully, these scenes have remained intact and look terrific on an iPhone. The voice overs, though, have been taken from XSEED’s Lunar: Silver Star Harmony on PSP. Only Jenny Stigile has stuck around as Luna’s singing voice.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch has three different control methods: tap to move, swipe for virtual analog, and virtual control pad mode. The last one, which brings up a d-pad and two control buttons, is played when your iOS device is in vertical orientation. It’ll look great on an iPad, but was kind of tiny on my iPhone 4.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch is universal. According to SoMoGa, Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch will arrive in the App Store worldwide, excluding Japan, tomorrow for $6.99 USD.
A review is on the way, but this is a huge game. It’s also a must buy for old school RPG fans.
