Despite some graphic inconsistencies, this complete revamping of the beloved and familiar Chrono Trigger introduction is, for lack of a better word, radically bitchin. At the very least, it helps paint a mental picture of what a modern Chrono Trigger remake might feasibly look like if rendered in that bizarre space residing between 2D and 3D.

As kids, we didn’t know games could make you cry until Palom and Porom petrified themselves to save their friends from Kainazzo’s closing walls. That’s right, I said “Kainazzo”, and I said it with gusto. Because I’m a retro hipster jerk!
This touching scene, commemorated and immortalized in sterling perler bead, is recreated in 3D and finely crafted to an exquisite standard that will have you screaming “shut and up and take my gil!”. If only it were for sale.
The creators, VGPerlers, do have an Etsy shop if you want to throw money at them anyway.
Wasn’t someone just talking about this very scene, among others? I think so!
Like clockwork, the third video in Anita Sarkeesian’s Tropes vs Women in Video Games series has arrived and it continues the exploration of the cliched ‘Damsel in Distress’ plotline mechanism, this time taking some time out to touch base on the rare ‘Dude in Distress’ switcheroo.
So this had me laughing more than it should have. What can I say? I’m a sucker for Street Fighter sound effects and religulous circus antics. The psycho crusher bit at the end had me giggling like a five year old. Coincidentally, it had my five year old laughing like a grown man.
Benny Hinn’s fireball game is godlike, bro.
Here’s your random game related factoid of the day: If Princess Peach’s castle in Super Mario 64 were real, it would cost nearly one billion dollars. $950,972,940.00 to be exact, according to Natalie Grigson of Movoto Real Estate blog.
The price was estimated by calculating total square footage, the cost per square foot, and location – Oslo, Norway, in case you were wondering. The environs surrounding the castle most closely resemble this Norwegian wonderland, with its grassy fields, waterfalls, and propensity for red and white mushrooms.
In terms of sheer size, the castle is estimated at 453,060 square feet, roughly the size of Hogwarts castle.

The Street Fighter IV train just isn’t stopping, folks. And why should it? The community is still going strong and SF4 remains, by far, the most popular fighter on the scene.
The latest update to Street Fighter IV is big enough to warrant a price tag: Ultra Steet Fighter IV will be available in early 2014 and will bring a variety of game tweaks, new modes, and five new characters.
The new characters that have been announced are Rolento, Hugo, and Poison from Street Fighter X Tekken, along with Elena from Street Fighter III. The last character is yet to be announced, and there is speculation that it will be a brand new character to the Street Fighter universe.
If you’ve already got Super Street Fighter IV, then you can get the Ultra update in the form of DLC for $15. Alternately, you could also pick it up on disc for $40 when it hits retail.
While it never got the love that Disgaea and other Nippon Ichi titles enjoyed, Makai Kingdom was as good as the best of them.
Foregoing the grid and boasting some of the most ridiculous mechanics ever (even by Disgaea standards), Makai Kingdom was an ambitious entry into the ranks of tactical RPGs. The base theme, “Sabat”, is a badass freakin’ earworm if there ever was one.
