Witch Wars by Com2uS looks like Dungeon Raid, prettier

April 30th, 2012 by

Com2uS just posted a few preview screens for their next iOS release, Witch Wars. With little information to be found, I’ve got to go with what I see here.

Witch Wars looks very similar to Dungeon Raid, though in landscape mode, with different items to be matched in a 6×6 grid. However, whereas Dungeon Raid went with a minimalist presentation, Witch Wars appears bright and vivid. There’s no telling, at this point, if the game actually PLAYS like Dungeon Raid. It may be a simplified take on Puzzle Quest as well. I’m hoping it’s the path less traveled.

“This is Halloween” video for Just Dance 3′s milestone

April 29th, 2012 by

Last week, I mentioned that Just Dance 3 broke the five million sales mark in North America just 28 weeks after release. Those of you who follow our Facebook page may recall I promised to post a video of myself dancing to “This is Halloween” to celebrate.

What I didn’t know when I made that promise was just how poorly I danced. That’s not entirely true. I knew it from growing up in a world without rhythm, but I thought months of playing these games had translated into some skills.

First Impressions: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (iOS)

April 26th, 2012 by

Yesterday, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes launched for iOS systems. I picked it up only because Capcom didn’t answered any questions I asked. So, here are some things you might like to know.

Sorry, Lions fans. Megatron wins Madden NFL ’13 cover vote.

April 25th, 2012 by

Oh, Detroit, haven’t you had enough pain in recent years? You were on the rise, what with that Chrysler Eminem commercial and… well… the Lions made the playoffs for the first time since 1999. That was something, right? I mean, the job market’s still just… yeah… but… anyway.

Now your star wide receiver, Calvin Johnson, is on the cover of Madden after beating Cam Newton 52%-48%. Your dreams of a Super Bowl behind Suh, Johnson, and Stafford went out the window. That picture of Johnson needing a little help to get off the field? That’s the past as prologue.

All kidding aside, the Madden curse is really just the law of averages at work.

Correction: Yourong Ma’s Mai Shiranui Cosplay is perfect.

April 24th, 2012 by

Do you remember the Mai Shiranui cosplay by Ma Yourong (YOKO, 馬友蓉) that I posted before? If not, I just linked it there. Take a look. I’ll wait.

Done? Okay, so Asian netizens said it was perfect, but I disagreed because no Mai Shiranui is complete without a fan. As you can see in her selca picture above, I was wrong. It WAS perfect.

After a little searching, I stumbled across an entire gallery not from the red carpet. Here’s a few samples and a link for those interested. There ARE fans inside.

Just Dance 3 surpasses 5 million sales in North America

April 22nd, 2012 by

Ubisoft’s Just Dance 3 continues to put up rather gaudy numbers on Nintendo Wii as it sells to the masses. After moving 34,247 units for the week ending April 14th, Just Dance 3 just passed the 5 million milestone (5.03 million units) in North America and has moved 8.89 million units worldwide. Considering it’s not available in Japan, and that’s downright insane.

Using information culled from VGChartz, Just Dance 3 for Nintendo Wii ranks as the 57th best-selling game of all time. OF. ALL. TIME.

Here are some games it has surprisingly outsold:

Review: Magic Tree (iOS)

April 21st, 2012 by

Last month, I went negative pretty early on Magic Tree by Com2uS. I was told by a representative that the preview I was down on was an early look, not quite ready for press, and that I should give the game a try. I agreed to give Com2uS another shot, even though they’ve disappointed me in the past.

When you first boot up the game, you are prompted for your Com2uS Hub information. After logging in (or creating an account), the game selects your character’s name and sex based off the provided information. I understand, as this could be a holdover from some strict Korean laws regarding gaming and the Internet. It could also be Com2uS looking to curtail men scamming other men with female avatars. That’s cool with me seeing as I’ve no interest in creating a female character, but I’m sure a lot of people will have an issue with this.
