Episode 012 – The Dilemma of Time, a Mystic Wonder

March 2nd, 2013 by

podcast cover_small“Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.” ― William Penn

In this episode of the Delta Attack Podcast, the DA Crew meet up with Stanley and Peabody in the Wayback Machine. Things get fractured, but you will believe a squirrel can fly. Moose? Not so much.

Today, Fade to Slack goes on the attack when defending Real Racing 3, Markham Asylum tells us about Etrian Odyssey IV and how the best JRPG franchise you probably haven’t played just got better, and Mark A. Brooks talks about the gratuitous fun of MonTowers. Somehow or another, we reminisce about a game you wouldn’t catch most gamers looking back fondly upon, but we own it. You only live once, kids.

Note: We have a few moments of broken audio from internet latency issues. We apologize for the technical difficulties. It’ll likely happen again, so I won’t give you that spiel. Just giving you a head’s up. It doesn’t last long, we promise. Thank you, Audacity!

Hit the start button, break out your zapper, and get ready for some mega fun.

ATLUS’s upcoming 4th entry in the Etrian Odyssey series has a demo available now on the 3DS’s eShop. The brilliant aspect to this demo is that your progress will carry over to the full game, which comes out on 2/26.

So how does the demo measure up? Is it worth your time? If you’ve never played the series, should you give it a shot? If you’re thinking of returning to relive past glory, is it fresh enough to once again invest dozens of hours? Let’s explore.

You can even scan QR codes to unlock free goodies in the demo, three of which are here for your convenience. Respectively, they are from the EO4 website, a special gift sent to the fans, and the YouTube video about reading QR codes:

If you’re anything like me, you avoid demos because they’re usually a disconnected slice that doesn’t give you a true taste of what’s to come. Even when they let you experience the opening and play the first areas without removing key features, everything you do will have to be repeated once you get the full game. Weak.

ATLUS figured it out, though, with the upcoming demo for Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. Here’s their full press release:

The demo will allow players to experience the opening gameplay areas available in the full title, including the introduction, initial mini-dungeon (Old Forest Mine), first skyship area (Windy Plains), and areas of the first main dungeon (Lush Woodlands).  Players will have open access to engage in a variety of

Etrian Odyssey IV Trailer is Eclectic

November 27th, 2012 by

Behold the first trailer for the upcoming Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. It’s kind of all over the place, and it’s humorous when they transition from fighting some badass monster to fleshing out your map, but I’m digging it. I can’t wait for this game to arrive.

Etrian Odyssey IV, the latest entry in the hard-yet-rewarding RPG series, is poised to hit the 3DS in North America early in 2013. Here are some new screenshots, along with information on font choice, of all things, which is actually pretty interesting.

“A lot of things matter to the player’s enjoyment of a long RPG: game balance, plot and characters, visuals and sound. But although a great deal of attention is given to all these things in the original game, a seemingly small thing is often overlooked during the localization process: the font.
