The Legend of Link

March 20th, 2013 by

Clearly inspired by Mike Mika’s recent Donkey Kong hack, here we have the next in what seems to be a developing trend in classic video game role reversals. In this revamped version of the Legend of Zelda, Princess Zelda quests long and hard through Hyrule to rescue Link from the evil clutches of Ganon.

Read more about the project and how to get the patch at Kenna’s blog.

The Master of Twists brings you a new spin on classic hardware:

In an even more surprising twist, there’s a port on the back that lets you play Genesis games.

Ok, not really, and Shyamalan wasn’t responsible for this, but you have to admit that it could have been taken directly from one of his movies.

Thanks to Delta Attack reader Nic W. for sharing this with us.

Funniest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Glitch

January 12th, 2013 by

Back in high school, IkeCube, Mark A. Brooks, and myself were hanging out with a few other friends and witnessed one of the best NES glitches ever. I can’t reproduce it exactly, as it was likely due to a dirty cartridge and system, but the result displayed onscreen looked something like this:

It was messed up way worse than that, with random sprite segments from the game thrown in all over, but the word “Donatardo” was crystal clear.

Though these have been donned by ladies, there’s no reason guys couldn’t wear them. Hey, we don’t discriminate. It would give a whole new meaning to “D-pad”.

Yeah, take that, Nintendo. Your NES is no match for the power of even the lowliest Android device.

You all remember that ad? “Genesis Does What Nintendon’t”? That was hilarious. Comparing a 16-bit console to an 8-bit one… great move. Too bad the Super Nintendo crushed the hedgehog shit out of your Genesis two years later.

Turn your iOS device into a classic console with the GameDock.

If you’re reluctant to spend $99 on an Apple TV just to enjoy your iOS games on your HDTV over AirPlay, check out this Kickstarter project for the GameDock by Cascadia Games, the team behind Cavorite for iOS. It plugs into your TV via a HDMI connection and allows you to “play classic games the way they were meant to be played,” in full 1080p. It even has two USB ports on the front so that you can hook up a pair of retro gamepads.

Have you ever played a great retro game on your iPhone, only to be frustrated with the touch controls? Or have you wanted to play an awesome iPad game with a friend, but two people holding one tablet just doesn’t feel right? With the GameDock for iOS you can play classic games the way they were meant to be played:
