Episode 011 – Ni No Kuni, Wii U No Sell-y

February 17th, 2013 by

podcast cover_smallIn this month’s episode of the Delta Attack Podcast, Fade to Slack takes you way back into the past to the mystical, forgotten land of last week. You’re getting a week old serving that’s fairly fresh, but fairly unedited. I’m busy, so sue me! Except, you know, don’t. Sorry I said those bad things about you and your mother. I’m sure that stuff only happens in Japan.

Join Mark A. Brooks, Markham Asylum, and Fade to Slack as they talk about the Wii U woes, the problems with the next console generation, iOS, and unintentional Engrish. It’s like when you realize that chocolate and peanut butter isn’t enough and throw in some marshmallow creme for good measure, except without all the weight gain and secretive sobbing afterwards.

This episode of the Delta Attack Podcast is sponsored by SPAM. Except that it’s not. I’m just really hungry. I fried up some SPAM and tossed it into a can of Hormel Vegetarian Chili with Beans for a surprisingly tasty dish.

SPAM’s not technically a meat, right? I’m sure my diet’s going fine.

Ni No Kuni’s World Map Music Is Spellbinding

February 8th, 2013 by

I’m sure by now my wife is completely sick of me whistling this tune around the house. This particular composition really sums up the Ni No Kuni experience – beautiful but not overbearing; full of wonder, and aching with wanderlust.

Composed by Joe Hisaishi and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the soundtrack to Ni No Kuni is a gorgeous construct through and through, reminding us that there just isn’t any suitable substitute for epic JRPG music.

Ni No Kuni Arrives To Universal Acclaim

ni no kuni critical acclaim

After a number of delays and years of waiting, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch finally arrives in North America.

And it was worth the wait, apparently; the JRPG that launched a thousand “D’aaawwwwww”s isn’t just charming the pants off of gamers, but managing a warm reception with critics as well, according to Metacritic.

Episode 009: Ignorance Isn’t Always Bliss

December 8th, 2012 by

Failures. We’ve all had them. Some of us more than others. Yeah, I’m looking at you, Todd. If you ever want to be a part of this family again, you need to get back on your feet and stop using. Don’t you see? You’re tearing this family apart!

The DA Crew triangulates to bring you this nerdy little slice of heaven. Contrary to what the song says, heaven can’t wait.

Today’s episode covers a short discussion on Final Fantasy IV. Well, short for us. Then we glaze over how Mother 3 made Fade cry like he just watched a puppy fall into a running blender. Ni no Kuni makes an appearance for people who love Level 5 and Studio Ghibli, which SHOULD be everyone. Then we just… yeah… we talk. Things get weird… more than once.

Honestly, this is a hodgepodge potpourri variety pack of a show, but you’ve got time to spare.

Ni No Kuni English Trailer Inspires Goosebumpiness, Pushed Back To 2013

April 12th, 2012 by

Gaaaah! Originally slated for Q1 of 2012, then pushed back to Winter 2012, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch‘s stateside release has now been officially delayed until early 2013. For folks who’ve been chomping at the bit to experience Studio Ghibli and Level 5′s highly-anticipated RPG, this news comes as a real punch to the daddy parts. Or mommy parts. Whatever your gender, it hurts.

Here is the most recent trailer for Ni No Kuni, which offers a first glimpse of the game’s English localization, a bittersweet taste of a game now a full year out.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch’s Newest Trailer

October 18th, 2011 by

This guy (pointing at myself right now) is looking forward to no game more than Ni No Kuni, Level 5 and Studio Ghibli’s breathtaking RPG bound for the PS3 in early 2012. So much so, in fact, that I get a little worried. With expectations set this high, there’s plenty of room for disappointment. But no worries! Watching the newest trailer for Ni No Kuni gets me super-pumped. The overworld… there’s no other word for it than “sexy”.

The Long, Long Wait For Ni No Kuni

September 15th, 2011 by

There hasn’t been any confirmation yet for a North American release of Level 5 and Studio Ghibli’s Ni No Kuni for the PS3, though it’s safe to say a game with this much “wow” factor is guaranteed to make the jump from Japan.

If, for whatever freak reason, you aren’t feeling the urge for this game, then you clearly haven’t watched the video. Without an official release date, the long, long wait for Ni No Kuni feels that much more distant.

UPDATE: Ni No Kuni has just been confirmed for North America, early 2012. That’s not that big of a wait after all! [source: Gamespot]
