Real Racing 3 to FINALLY get Real-Time Multiplayer… on iOS only

December 12th, 2013 by

Electronic Arts and Firemonkeys are about to make a lot of racing fans either really happy or really sad with its next update.

In addition to the two new cars, the Lamborghini Veneno and McLaren P1, the game is finally getting the much sought after real-time multiplayer in addition to the standard asynchronous time-shifted events.

The catch? Real-Time Multiplayer uses GameCenter and, thus, is available only to iOS players. And, thus, the great divide widens as if millions of Android users cried out in anger and were suddenly ignored. You may as well get your popcorn ready, because the “statistically, more people use Android” outrageous butthurt festival is about to begin over on their Google Play page.

Real Racing 3 brings more Porsche to the… Consortia?

September 3rd, 2013 by

Real Racing 3, the game the Internet hated way more than regular people did, has announced the next content update with the following teaser trailer.

Seven, count ‘em, SEVEN generations of Porsche 911’s are coming to the next update. If the previous teasers are any indication, the update should hit in a matter of days and completely ruin any chance I have of ever completely updating my Real Racing 3 guide again.

If you haven’t played the game in a while, perhaps it’s time to give it a shot again. Reduced timers, changes to the way you reach content, and fixed Endurance races are just the tip of the (come on… think of an iceberg equivalent for cars, Fade…) exhaust pipe? Fender? Wait, what do you hit with cars? Pedestrians? Someone help me out here.

Seven more cars now brings Real Racing 3 to a grand total of 69 cars, a plurality of which will now be Porsche 911’s.

Real Racing 3 Tips & Tricks Guide
I absolutely love Real Racing 3, but a lot of people are upset about the freemium model. It’s no wonder, when you consider the previous games were paid apps, but there really aren’t that many things standing between you and fun.

There seems to be an awfully vocal segment of the community upset about this not being a paid app. I get it. No one likes timers. However, these timers are miniscule compared to the fun you can have for next-to-nothing.

Let’s make free-to-play fun-to-play, again.

Review: Real Racing 3 (iOS)

February 28th, 2013 by

A lot of people are going to be comparing Real Racing 3 to its predecessor, Real Racing 2. Not having played any racing simulation seriously since Forza Motorsport 2, I can assure you that I am not that guy.

What I do know, however, is that Real Racing 2 was a paid app. Real Racing 3 is a free-to-play game, and that comes with the free-to-play annoyances. There are a lot of questions lingering around this transition.

Is Real Racing 3 the real deal, or is it a raw deal?

Review: Wipeout HD

August 28th, 2010 by

Despite being one of the PlayStation 3’s pricier downloadable titles, at $19.99 Wipeout HD is a ridiculous bargain considering it has as much content packed into it as one would expect from a retail disc. It’s an awesome technical achievement and fun as hell, making it an essential (if not the essential) PS3 experience.
