Jet Set RADIO!!! SEGA announces JSR’s price and dates

August 11th, 2012 by

It’s hard to get worked up about re-makes most of the time, but I’ve literally been checking up on Jet Set Radio HD news twice a day since the teaser was released.

Jet Set Radio is coming to Playstation Network, Steam, and Xbox Live Arcade on for ten bucks/800 Microsoft Points. It shows up on September 18th on PSN before dropping on Steam and XBLA on the 19th. Additionally, Playstation PLUS members can pick the game up a week earlier on September 11th, which seems really insensitive to me. I mean, I’m an Xbox 360 owner, and I want the game, too.

Oh, plus… yeah… that other thing.

Jet Set Radio to tag iOS and Android mobile phones

July 21st, 2012 by

Do you like covering rival gang graffiti? Sure! We all do!

SEGA has announced that, in addition to its Xbox Live, Playstation Network, Playstation Vita, and Windows PC releases, Jet Set Radio is coming to iOS and Android phones sometime this summer. Jet Set Radio will have mobile-specific features, such as OpenFeint compatibility and Camera Roll integration. The iOS release will also feature retina-display graphics.

Jet Set Radio HD Tracklist released, missing “Yappie Feet”

June 1st, 2012 by

A couple of days back, SEGA teased Jet Set Radio soundtrack news by releasing footage of the HD remake set to “Dragula” by Rob Zombie.

SEGA just posted the final Jet Set Radio tracklist on the SEGA Blog. Every song from all three regions made the cut… except for Deavid Soul’s “Yappie Feet” which was inexplicably excluded.

Rob Zombie shows up for Jet Set Radio HD

May 31st, 2012 by

Sega dropped a video today for Jet Set Radio. It was quick, but you’ll notice right away that it’s set to “Dragula,”  the Rob Zombie song featured on Jet Grind Radio for Sega Dreamcast.

This is great news for purists like me who want the experience to sync with their memories. It’s also terrible news for purists unlike me that want the Japanese experience because it originated in Japan. You know, anime nerds and stuff. Shit, you’re our demographic, huh?

Jet Set Radio also coming to PS Vita

May 25th, 2012 by

I’ve been looking forward to Jet Set Radio’s HD remake for some time, now. Today, Sega announced that it’s coming to PS Vita in addition to the already-announced Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Windows PC Digital Download releases.

This piqued my interest, though:

“The fan reaction to our recent reveal of Jet Set Radio has been incredible!” said Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “As Jet Set Radio is focused on creativity, the touch capabilities of the PlayStation VITA are proving to be a perfect fit.”

Really? Then port it to 3DS and iOS, too. I’m sure all you’re actually talking about is the graffiti editor, but put your money where you mouth is, Haruki Satomi. Yeah, you get no “san” from me until you do.

Double Dragon: NEON updates franchise this summer

April 7th, 2012 by

Majesco has teamed up with WayForward Technologies to create Double Dragon: NEON. The game comes out just in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.

I just name-dropped WayForward as a company who knows how to do action games when talking about how much I wanted an ActRaisers sequel in our roundtable podcast. While their 3D games (like their Spongebob game on Wii) can be all over the place, I rate them just a step below Treasure when it comes to 2D action games. Sure, they’re using polygons here, but this is a distinctly 2D game.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth XBLA screens, coming April 6th

April 1st, 2012 by

While I play a lot of Tower Defense games on iPhone, I’ll own up to never playing Anomaly: Warzone Earth. I’ve read nothing but good things about it, though.

Now that it’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade, perhaps it’s time I give it a try. Here’s a scattering of screens for the upcoming XBLA release.
